Bro & Co – Part One | Simple Stories | Amy Kattenbelt

Good Morning Magpies,

Amy here, sharing with you two layouts that I have created using the fun collection called Bro & Co by Simple Stories.

Cool Dude

For this layout I used the patterned paper called It’s All Good as my background. Then I distressed the edges of the 2×2 cut apart paper and used the blue B side, layering at an offset and at a slight angle. There are some really great tone on tone patterned B sides in this collection, which I love to work with. I then did the same thing with a piece of white card stock, distressing the edges and layering it  at an offset and a slight angle.

Next I stitched around the edges of these papers to give added detail and texture. The final two layers of paper I added were the striped Send It paper, and the grey paper with stars on called Level Up. I added my two photos, which I matted in white card. The title ‘Cool Dude’ was added from the amazing Foam Sticker sheet. These stickers are what first caught my eye in this collection.

I had lots of fun decorating the layout with fussy cut stars from one of the papers. The larger stars were die cut out of coloured card and I added stitched details. I added lots of stickers from the 12×12 sticker sheet. I added my sons name as a subtitle using the red tile alpha stickers from the Bold Alphabet sticker book. Because this is also made by Simple Stories, the colours match perfectly.

Epic Dude

My second layout today has a slightly cleaner, fresher feel because I used a whole white piece of cardstock as my background. Instead of distressing the edges, I used a blender tool to ink the edges in black ink. This makes them stand out from each other.

To make my photo really pop off the page, I matted it in black cardstock. Next I cut the bottom edge larger than the other three edges and added my sons name, using alphas from the Bold Alphabet Sticker Book.  Don’t you love how the four tone on tone patterned papers, which I cut into various banner shapes, look together and are also complimented by the striped and star papers.

I added my title from the sticker sheet and the foam stickers, and this cute bear from the die cut pack. I added some stars and stickers to finish off the layout.

Thanks for coming and taking a closer look at my two layouts, I hope it has provided you with some inspiration. I will be back later in the month with two more layouts using this fun collection. In the mean time why not head over to the Hey Little Magpie Facebook group and share with us your latest layouts. There you will also find more details about this months challenge, which involves using stars on your layouts.
