Bloom with Simple Stories

Hello, it’s Jo here with my July DT projects and I got to play with the Simple Stories collection ‘Bloom’. It’s a lovely floral collection with minty blues, peachy pinks and greens. I made two layouts and a mini book using the following products from the collection; the die cut pack, chipboard stickers and the 4×6 sticker pack.

I also used five 12 x 12″ papers from the collection; Everyday Counts, Inspired, Happy Times, 3×4 Elements and 4×6 Elements.

Layout 1

For this layout I used the ‘Happy Times’ as the main paper , with a torn off strip of the b-side layered behind. The woodgrain paper is Pink Paislee ‘Auburn Lane – Paper 02’, it goes fabulously with this collection.

I cut out one of the cards from the 4×6 Elements paper and fussy cut matching flowers from the ‘Inspired Paper’ which I adhered on top of those already on the main paper for added dimension. All the embellishments from the Bloom collection; chipboard stickers, die cuts and from the sticker pack. I love the word strips in the 4×6 sticker pack and oh, that chipboard typewriter is so pretty, plus it goes nicely next to my typed journaling strips! The gold foam thickers are some from my stash, however these ones from Pink Paislee Auburn Lane collection would look great too.

Layout 2

The main paper here is ‘Everyday Counts’, I just flipped it around as I wanted the floral arrangement to be in the bottom corner. I used a craft knife to cut around a flower and some leaves so that I could tuck the photo and journaling card underneath them, they were too pretty to cover over.

I added a cut apart card from the 3×4 Elements paper and the rest of the elements come from the die cuts, chipboard stickers and sticker pack. I raised the top of the photos and journaling card on foam pads, but adhered the bottom flat. This gives a little dimension but allows things to be layered easily on top of the photos along the bottom edge.

Mini Book

I wanted a way to use the lovely 3×4 Elements paper, the stickers, die cuts and chipboard pieces as there are lots in the packs (I also used some of the 4×6 Elements and Inspired papers). I decided the best way was to make a mini book and as I had recently visited a lovely walled garden with my mum at Mottisfont Abbey, I had lots of floral photos to use!
