Beautiful Millie & June
Hi again Magpies, Niki here with you today to show you the gorgeous Millie & June collection by Fancy Pants. I had a few of the 12×12 papers and the 6×6 paper pad, as well as quite a few of the embellishments including the Flair pack, Ephemera pack, Patterned Puffy Alpha Stickers, Puffy Accent Stickers, Tags Pack and Puffy Dot Stickers.
For my first layout I used a full sheet of 12×12 Millie & June paper and a cut file from Just Nick, to cut all those squares within a heart shape. I cut the design, left all the little bits on the mat but I peeled off the full sheet outline. I layered that onto a sheet of white card, then added each piece from the mat one by one (all raised on foam pads by the way 🙂 ) using the outline as a stencil. Once each piece had been added through the stencil, I very carefully peeled off the outline and I was left with this fantastic background. I was expecting to be there for hours but it didn’t take me very long at all. The result in real life is awesome. You can see some of the dimension in the detail shot above. I then built my layout on top of the background using tags, some of the patterns from the 6×6 paper pad and a number of the embellishments. The pink edge around the background is actually the reverse of the outline sheet of the pattern I’ve used for the heart – no wastage right?!
For my second layout ‘off we go’ I layered up lots of papers from the 6×6 pad, cut strips for the top and bottom and used a number of tags and ephemera. I love a random embellishment and in this collection the dogs (poodles?) were it for me. I don’t have a dog so may have struggled to use these but my children were (apparently) on a train from London to Florida with stops along the way at PuppyLand and RabbitLand, so I figured dogs were fair game!
For ‘Work in Progress’ I really wanted to use the chevron paper but it was just too busy on its own and was making my eyes go funny! I cut out a large chunk of it and put it on a white background. I cut some speech bubbles on my Silhouette and added a number of small patterns from the 6×6 pad. I also added the two speech bubbles from the ephemera pack and made the layout all about a night that we went to see Michael McIntyre.
For ‘Dancing Queens’ I cut out lots of hearts from the heart paper – again it was a bit too busy for me to use as a whole sheet, and I stapled a small tag of ribbon to each one. I then arranged my hearts on my layout together with my photos and used a lot of small embelishments to finish off.
And finally ‘my friend’ was based on a 2009 sketch by Shimelle – even though a sketch is mega old or looks a bit out of date or old fashioned, it can still be used for inspiration and looks great with modern supplies! I really love how this layout turned out. Again I used multiple patterns from the 6×6 paper pad and the embellishments. The ‘my friend’ title came from the Puffy Accent Stickers set.
I really loved working with this very cute and pretty collection by Fancy Pants. Millie & June is loosly based on mums (moms) grandmas, sisters etc but apart from a few of the embellishments (where I simply covered up the words anyway), the collection was quite generic and worked really well with a variety of photos.
Happy scrapping xx
