Beach Bum, Summer Vibes | Julie Taylor | Summer scrapbook layout
Hello Magpies,
There’s something so satisfying about adding those finishing touches to a scrapbook page, and the July Embellishment Kit from Hey Little Magpie made this layout come together so effortlessly. This month’s subscription is packed with gorgeous summer and beach-themed goodies, perfect for documenting all those sunny adventures. I absolutely love working with these monthly kits because they’re filled with beautifully curated embellishments that make it easy to add layers, texture and personality to every project. It’s always such a treat when the subscription pops through the door each month!
For this layout, I began by creating a mixed media background on white cardstock. I blended inks through a stencil to add subtle colour and texture before building the rest of my design on top. Once the background was dry, I layered ripped and torn patterned papers over to the left-hand side of the page, adding some of the gorgeous ribbon trim from the kit for extra dimension.
I positioned my three photos in the centre of the layout, allowing them to become the main focal point while leaving plenty of room to tuck in all the lovely embellishments. The large Beach Bum patch was the perfect choice for my title, making a bold statement, while the adorable starfish patch was nestled into the cluster on the left for a fun coastal touch.
The best part was embellishing! I tucked ephemera, die-cuts and decorative pieces around the photos, creating lots of little layers and details that bring the whole page to life. I love how the variety of elements in the kit makes it so easy to build balanced clusters without feeling overwhelming.
