August Embellishment Kit Scrapbook layout – Wendy Meffan

For my latest scrapbook layout, I wanted to create a page that captured the fun, colourful feel of a special day in Aruba. I had six flamingo photos that I wanted to showcase, and the Hey Little Magpie August Embellishment Kit was the perfect starting point. I chose the Vicki Boutin Sunset Beach Club Collection, which worked beautifully with my photographs. The bright, summery colours and beach-inspired feel were perfect for these holiday memories.

 

My six photographs all feature the beautiful pale pink flamingoes we saw in Aruba. I loved having so many photos to choose from because, although the flamingoes were all pale pink, each photograph captured something slightly different. There were also so many different colours and tones around them, from the tropical surroundings to the blue skies and sunshine.To add interest to the background, I used a large sunburst stencil with Daffodil 49 and Market ink. The sunburst creates a lovely sense of sunshine and movement behind the photographs and adds another layer of colour to the page.

I arranged the six photos together so they became the main focus of the layout. I wanted the page to feel bright, happy and relaxed, just like the memories themselves. The Sunset Beach Club papers provided the perfect base, while the stencilled background added a bold detail without overpowering the photos.

I had lots of fun adding embellishments from the Hey Little Magpie August Embellishment Kit. Along the bottom of the layout, I added hearts and starfish, creating a fun decorative border and bringing even more of that summery, beach-inspired feeling to the page.

For another layer of texture, I added a piece of Daisy Thread across the paper block in the lower half of the layout. I also tucked the large shell into the layers of the page, which works beautifully with the beachy theme.

One of my favourite finishing touches was the charm. I hung it from the clip, giving the layout a little extra movement and dimension.

I particularly enjoyed combining the pale pink flamingoes with the brighter colours of the Sunset Beach Club Collection. The contrast makes the photographs stand out, while the yellow sunburst ties everything together with its cheerful, summery feel.

This page is a lovely reminder of our time in Aruba and those gorgeous flamingoes. Six pale pink flamingoes, tropical sunshine, vibrant colours and lots of happy holiday memories – the perfect combination for a fun summer scrapbook layout!
