August Embellishment Kit Scrapbook layout | Julie Taylor

Hello Magpies

There is nothing quite like that feeling when the exclusive  Embellishment Kit pops through my door! I love opening it up, spreading everything out and immediately starting to imagine all the different layouts I could create. This month’s kit was packed with lots of fun and versatile pieces, and I could have taken it in so many different directions – beach days, days out, summer adventures and more. But then I spotted the lovely ice cream elements and knew exactly where I wanted to go!

I had this cute photo just waiting to be scrapped, so ice creams it was. I decided to make things even more challenging for myself by reaching for a completely random selection of papers and ephemera. I had recently found a bag of bits that I’d obviously thrown together after finishing other pages, rather than putting everything back where it belonged! It was full of little leftovers from different collections and projects, so I decided to see if I could make them work with the August kit.

I have to admit, this is a real treat for me. I love working with different collections & I really couldn’t tell you were half of these pieces came from!! I loved picking out each bit, layering them together and finding ways to make all those mismatched elements work alongside the embellishments from the kit.

The end result is probably best described as a little bit crazy, but in the best possible way! It’s fun, vibrant and full of colour, with lots of little details to discover. Most importantly, I had such a pleasure creating it.

Sometimes stepping outside your usual style is exactly what you need – and this page definitely reminded me that not everything has to match perfectly to work beautifully together!
