Art Walk | Heidi Swapp | Giselle Homer

Hi Magpies,

I hope you’re all well and managing to make the most of the lovely weather.

This month I’m using Heidi Swapp’s ‘Art Walk’ collection. It’s a collection full of beautiful papers that look like ready made mixed media backgrounds. So if you’re dipping your toes into the waters of mixed media and need some inspiration, check them out in the shop.

For this layout I chose a blue paper called Sea to Sky to go with the two beach photos I wanted to use.

I began by adding two layers behind my photos and placing them just below the centre line. I added a cut file title between them which I had back filled with the  yellow paper Casita for contrast.

I cut four tag shapes from other papers in the collection to go on either side of the photos and added twine to them all. On one tag I added some words from the pack of stickers. And highlighted them with enamel dots.

I wanted to use this phrase which was on a clear sticker but I knew it wouldn’t show up well by itself. So I put it on some white cardstock, cut it out and glued it to the photo.

I embellished the other photo with a flower sticker in the lower right corner. I added the date and place to the tag on the right.

Once that was done I felt that something was missing, the layout needed something else! So I die cut a circle shape to place between the photos and that also gave them a ‘connection’ in the design. I glued a few acrylic embellishments to the circle and a few extra details to the tags to finish off the page.

I look forward to seeing your layouts on our Facebook page and maybe you’ll try a little mixed media too! I’ll be back later this month, until then, happy scrapping everyone!
