Monthly Challenge – April 2021

Hey Magpies,

Can you believe it’s time for a new monthly challenge already. This time we would like you to create a layout using the Tic Tac Toe board below.

If you are new to this type of challenge, allow me to explain…

You simply pick a line of 3 elements, which runs either vertically, horizontally or diagonally (from corner to opposite corner) and you must use these three elements on your layout. So for example you could use the bottom horizonal line of ‘Triangles’, ‘Stitching’ and the word ‘Hello’. There are actually 8 different combinations you can pick for this challenge!

I have created an example layout, I went for the diagonal line that gave me the three elements ‘Enamel dots’, ‘Aqua’ and the word ‘Hello’.

I used distress ink to create my mixed media background. Then I used the new Vicki Boutin stamp sets, they are amazing! One of the sets is called ‘Hello‘ and conveniently had a stamp that says hello! From the ‘Its all Good‘ stamp set I used the splatter stamp, the leaf stamp, the butterfly stamp and also the phrase ‘Its all good’. The papers and title are from the new Cocoa Vanilla Studio collection called Sunkissed (keep your eye out for more inspiration using this collection from our design team this month!)

Julie has also created a colourful example layout using the tic tac toe grid. She went for the last vertical line to give the elements ‘Rainbow’, ‘3 or more photos’ and the word ‘Hello’. As you may be able to spot, she was so inspired by the challenge she ended up using nearly all the other elements too! Isn’t so beautiful and cheerful!

You have until midnight on April 30th to create your layout and upload it to our Hey Little Magpie Chat and Inspiration group on Facebook. You need to make sure to upload it to the correct album within the group. It would be great if you could also let us know which 3 element line you used! We will choose a winner at random and 1,000 Magpie points will be added to their Hey Little Magpie account. Please upload your creations into the album called April 2021 Monthly Challenge. You can find this under the Media heading, then choose Albums. We can’t wait to see what you come up with,
