Amy Tangerine – Slice of Life | Caroline Aston
Hello Magpies, as I write this post it is rather wet and pretty miserable outside, it feels like autumn is definitely on the way. So it is nice to have a lovely bright and colourful collection to share with you today. Amy Tangerine’s Slice of Life is perfect for scrapping all your summer memories, but would also be great for autumnal photos too. I’ve even used it for a photo from December.
Summer Selfies
My first layout includes a photo from this summer. It’s a nice bright summery photo, therefore I wanted my layout to be bright too.
I started by selecting the Rainbow Hall Paper, as I loved the rainbow stripe and thought it represented summer perfectly. I cut a piece about 11” long and just a bit wider than my photo. Which I positioned up against the edge of the page. For my other layers I chose to use both the A and B sides of the Bamboo Blues Paper. The small blue and yellow heart print is another favourite of mine from this collection.
I chose three areas to add embellishment, as well as my title. Two around the photo and one at the bottom of the page. Starting with the bottom cluster, I cut two small strips of the Bamboo Blues Paper. Placing them against the bottom edge. I then built it up using pieces from both the 6×12” Cardstock Stickers and the Glitter Foam Phrase Thickers pack. Along with a few bits from my stash. The camera sticker is from an older Amy Tangerine collection. This is one of the things I love about Amy’s collections, they are so easy to mix and match.
For my other embellishment clusters, I repeated the label, the die cut asterisk and the foam heart from the bottom cluster, adding a word/phrase sticker to both. Moving on to my title, I chose to use the Puffy Alphabet Stickers from the PinkFresh Studio Just a Little Lovely collection. I thought they would be the perfect size for this layout and even though they are white, they still stand out against the rainbow stripe. I die cut some chevrons from the Bamboo Blues Paper, to place next to my title. Finishing it off with the glitter camera and my printed journaling strips, which I placed below the photo.
It’s All About The Crepe
For my second layout I wanted to use the gorgeous Wide Washi Tape Roll. Which I cut into an arrow shape and placed towards the bottom of the page to form a grounding for my layout.
I chose to use a single 6×4” photo which I matted on to a number of different papers from the collection. I wanted to replicate the rainbow from the washi tape. Therefore, I picked mainly solid colours, layering them up behind the photo in rainbow order.
Next I moved on to my title and journaling, which I knew I wanted to put to the left of the photo. For my title I used the Glitter & Black Foil Foam Alphabet Thickers from the collection. I love this style of Thickers, where you get two colours of the same font. They are great for emphasising a specific word in your title. Just like I have done for this layout, I used the glitter ones for the word “crepe”. I then printed out my journaling and placed it above my title.
To finish off my layout, I added two embellishment clusters around my photo. Starting each one with a punched tab and using pieces from the cardstock and foam sticker packs. I then finished each one with an enamel dot and a wood veneer star. There are some lovely big pieces in the Glitter Foam Phrase Thickers, perfect if you want to keep your embellishments simple.
It’s A Cats Life
My third layout today came together really quickly. I started by cutting all the branding strips off the patterned papers. Then lay them randomly on the right hand side of my layout. So that they were all different lengths on the page, trimming off the excess to use on another page.
Next I selected my photos, which I printed at 3×4” and matted them onto black card. Positioning them in the bottom left of the page. So that my title would fit above. For my title I used the black Thickers from the collection. Using the glitter ones again to emphasise the word “Cat’s”.
I finished the page by adding a small amount of embellishment above the title and at the left and right of the photos. Using pieces from the 6×12” Cardstock Stickers and the Glitter Foam Phrase Thickers.
I felt this layout didn’t really need any journaling, so I just added her name and the year under the photos.
Thank you for joining me today, if you have enjoyed seeing Amy Tangerine’s Slice of Life from American Crafts you can find it in the shop here. I will be back again later in the month, with more layouts using this lovely collection.
So until then, Happy Scrapping!
