As soon as I saw this multicoloured cube patterned paper I knew exactly what I wanted to use it for….to document my son’s latest obsession with rubik’s cubes. He has been seriously dedicated to memorising all the algorithms needed and can solve a standard 3×3 in a matter of seconds. He never without one of his speed cubes. This needed to be documented, as I believe these little every day things are as important as the big family holidays and events.
I wanted to use a large amount of the patterned paper, so decided to go for a vertical piece 6 inches wide covering half my layout. With this in place I added a smaller black patterned paper (I felt the cube paper was colourful enough!) to ground my two 3×4 photos.
I layered up one of the larger acetate filmstrips in the Fern colour by 49 & Market, with some of the pieces from the ephemera pack and sticker sheet. To add dimension, I also added some wooden JD3D Print cameras to my layout. I used some tiny tile alphabet stickers to edit one of the words on a piece of ephemera so instead of saying ” Eat. Sleep. Game. Repeat.” it now reads “Eat. Sleep. Cube. Repeat”.
My title was created using aJD3D wooden word piece ‘amazing‘, some tiny tile stickers from the Bold Colour Vibe Alphabet Sticker book by Simple Stories, and the green word ‘Addict’ that comes in the sticker sheet that’s part of the collection pack.
I added some smaller pieces of the Fern green filmstrips to the top right of my layout. Then placed journalling that I printed out on top of these. I am making a bigger effort to make sure to try and tell the story behind the photos.
Lastly I had fun using the Hey Little Magpie Black & White embellishment kit to add some thread behind a HLM flair from the ” set, some wooden buttons and some black dots. These kits are available in several colour ways are are great way to add the finishing touches to your layout.
I will be along shortly to share another layout using this Gamer collection. In the meantime,
Take Care,
