Amazing! – Obed Marshall – Fantastico – Wendy Meffan

Hi Everyone! I can’t believe how quickly time is marching on and here I am again in a new month on the blog. This month I chose the Obed Marshall Fantastico Collection. I loved the bright colours in this collection but was slightly challenged by the Spanish words but feel I have made them work on my layouts! I did look up their meaning to decide if they were appropriate!

As soon as I saw the 12×12 Sunny paper I knew I would be cutting it up and distressing the edges and possibly sewing around  the pieces to give some texture to the layout. I started with the whole sheet and gradually as the layout developed I cut across diagonally and only used half the sheet.

I made a mixed media background using distress oxides towards the bottom of the page to break up the white space.

On the 12×12 chipboard sticker sheet I found a nice square photo frame so made my photo square and attached it behind.

I then flicked through the ephemera pack and chose a couple of labels/ journal cards and also cut apart the 12×12 Here and Now paper which has lots of tags on it. I decided to only use the pieces which were coordinating to the background paper. I distressed the edges on all these pieces and added twine to the labels. I then arranged them all in clusters around the photo and used sticky fixers to create a layered effect and give some depth to the layout.

I then chose the 12×12 Sweet and Sour paper and cut out a few of the oranges and distressed the edges and tucked them in around the layout.

I used a banner from the ephemera pack as a mini title over the top of the photo and added the AMAZING chipboard piece as the main title. I remembered I also had some fruit perspextives from Bramblefox so dotted the cherries and strawberries onto the page. Finally I splatted some white guesso over the page.

LAYOUT 2

I decided to go with the blues and greens of the layout to show a completely different spec on the collection and also because they matched my daughter’s dress so well!

For this layout I started with a mixed media background using distress oxides in three different blues, along eight some splatters of each colour. Then I picked out two go the 12×12 papers Marquee and Up & Down which were also blue and green to use on the layout. I gutted the Up & Down paper to allow me to make a border and then cut 3×4 pieces from each paper to layer up behind the photo. I distressed the edged and then stuck them together with sticky fixers.

Again I sorted through the ephemera and picked out the blue/ green pieces and tucked them in around the photo.

I made a cluster for the bottom of the the layout as i had started with my design in the middle but then decided I preferred it over to the left. I chose the big label from the sticker sheet which I mounted on sticky fixers and then added a few more stickers around it. I punched 6 hearts from the two papers and then sewed through them onto the layout.

Finally I added some coloured twine to the labels , added a few Bramblefox stars some white guesso splatters over the layout.

I am so pleased with both these layouts  and I just love the two different colour combinations, I found using the Spanish words quite easy once I knew what they meant !

I hope these layouts have given you some inspiration and do remember to post your creations in the Hey Little Magpie Chat and Inspiration Facebook page as we love to see your work.

Till next time …

Happy Scrapping
