A little bit of My Story, Prism and Documentary!
Hey Magpies, welcome to September! I can’t believe it’s September already, where has the year gone? To kick off the month on the blog I have 6 layouts for you, using a mixture of different manufacturers. I have two LO’s using the brand new My Story collection from My Minds Eye which just arrived in the shop last week, two using the brand new Dear Lizzy collection, Documentary and two using the Basic Grey, Prism.
I ordered the My Story Every Day Stickers which are lush. They do have proper gold foil on some of the stickers. I’ve used the typewriter and some of the word stickers on my first LO and I am definitely saving the glasses sticker to use soon, I think I will be getting my first pair very soon!
This paper from My Story, Heirloom Roses, is definitely one of my new favourites. I used it on both of the LO’s I did with My Story because I loved it so much. Both sides are beautiful, the striped side is the perfect sized stripe and the floral side is just so pretty! I have used up my sheet already and will be ordering more real soon!
So here’s the LO I created, I just layered up a few of the My Story papers. I used Heirloom Roses as I mentioned above, the reverse side of Typewriter Paper and both sides of Wildflower Bouquet. I actually did the LO below this one first, so I used both sides of the leftover bits of the Heirloom Roses paper that I had on my desk and then added in bits of the other two papers, building my layers up from the photo down. So I stick my photo to a piece of paper, then cut another one to fit under and so on and so on. So I end up tucking bits underneath here and there.
My title is done using a few different stickers & Thickers. The word ‘life’ is from Amy Tangerine Stitched Words and I added the yellow heart from Hey Little Magpie Enammel Hearts above the i. Under the word fabulous (which is done with older Amy Tangerine pink Thickers) I used Crate Paper Journey Chalkboard Alphabet Stickers to put ‘fab’ on the page and then layer ‘fabulous’ over the top. I do love those massive chalkboard stickers, they make such an impact.
My embellishing is really simple, I didn’t think I needed much so I used the typewriter sticker from the My Story Every Day Sticker sheet and I mounted it on foam pads for some height. I added some of the word stickers from the sheet as well. Then I used one of the Mini Paper Doilies from the brand new new Amy Tangerine Finders Keepers line, under my HLM #Selfie Flair Badge. The little doilies are the perfect size to add under flair badges! The last thing I did was add a border of white dots around the edge of all my papers cause the LO just needed an extra something and some doodling did the trick!
Have you checked out the new Hey Little Magpie Stationery in the shop? There’s some awesome things available. The pens are great, I have this cat one and love it for writing, it’s got such a fine nib. There’s also a selection of puffy stickers, I’ve used the cat ones on the LO below and also loads of different washi tapes. I used the Black & White Stripes but there’s so many designs to chose from.
The Wood Veneer Stickers from Pinkfresh Studio are great as well. I’ve used a couple of the hearts on my LO below and also one of the banners and I think they stand out as a really interesting embellishment, they do catch your eye really well.
So this next LO is one of my favourite grids. It’s just so easy to throw a LO together using a grid design. I started this one with the awesome Heirloom Roses paper I featured above and then added in a couple of strips from the Wildflower Bouquet paper above and below the floral. Then I added a strip above and below my grid, with the Black & White Strips Washi tape from HLM.
My title is using the new Dear Lizzy Documentary Phrase Thickers. I used some stickers from the My Story Every Day Stickers, the gold arrow across the bottom of the photo and the word stickers down the side. The Pinkfresh Studio Wood Veneer Stickers and then I added in a couple of Puffy Stickers from HLM, the Cats & Creatures sheet which is currently out of stock but I’m sure it will be back soon so sign up for an email alert when it’s back again. I didn’t think I needed much embellishment on this LO, like the one above, because my papers are quite busy.
Now, these Maggie Holmes Confetti, Faux Leather Bows are super cool. Don’t be fooled by the product photo that’s supplied by the manufacturer. They do these sometimes, before the actual product is manufactured so they can let customers know what to expect. The actual product is gorgeous, faux leather bows! They’re super cute and well worth a second look at.
Ok, I took an Instagram photo of my pack, just cause I thought this will show you how cool these bows are in real life. I’ve used one of the turquoise ones on the LO below which is why it’s missing from this photo. But how cute are they! The manufacturer supplied image doesn’t do them justice does it!
My next two layouts are using papers from the new Dear Lizzy Documentary collection. I liked a lot of the papers so I bought the 12×12 Paper Pad and you get two each of all the papers in the pad. I used the Party Animal paper here and cut it down to 8.5×11″. For my title I used a chipboard sticker from the MAMBI Chalk Sweet Memories pack. Under that I layered up loads of elements from the Documentary Die Cut Gold Foiled Ephemera pack. I also added in some of the Ephemera from the Craft Market pack as well because I wanted to add some more green in there. I had also chosen to use one of the Faux Leather Bows from the Confetti line and I didn’t think I needed much more, but when I spotted the little cat faces on the Wonder Puffy Sticker sheet, I decided I needed to put two of them on there too. Cause why not eh!
I am a massive fan of the phrase & title stickers that have started appearing in the last couple of years. I just love how I can throw one on and the LO is done. It’s simple and I find that the words they use are quite handy ones that fit a lot of LO’s. So when I spotted that there was a new set of Foam Phrase Thickers in the Documentary line, I snapped up two packs of them. I love them already. You can also get these ones from Amy Tangerine Stitched, some lush gold ones from Amy Tangerine Rise & Shine, some chipboard ones from Crate Paper Poolside, new white ones in the latest Amy Tangerine line, Finders Keepers, some gold chipboard ones from WRMK Wildflower and some puffy ones from Jen Hadfield, Cottage Living. If you like to get your LO done & finished quick, then I can’t recommend these products enough.
My next LO uses the Bear Hug paper from Documentary. Again, I cut it down to 8.5×11″. I usually do this with bold papers because I find the 12×12″ size a little overwhelming full size, I get scared and chop it down! I wanted to use the ‘hello’ word from the Documentary Foam Phrase Thickers pack and then I was looking for something to use with that, and the ‘possibilities’ word and ‘travel’ globe stickers on the Documentary 6×12″ Phrase & Accent Sticker sheet caught my eye and were perfect! Then all I did was add some of the gold sequins from the Wonder Enamel Dots & Sequins pack, a couple of hearts from Hey Little Magpie Enamel Hearts and Mini Enamel Hearts sheets as well as a couple of gold photo turns from my stash. Photo turns are some of my most favourite embellishments ever and I really hope someone adds them to a collection soon because I’m starting to run low!
These Cork Bows from Dear Lizzy Documentary are awesome! I’ve used one on the LO below and they’re larger than I was expecting but wow, they’re cute! I think I’ll be stockpiling these and ordering a second pack soon!
I have sung the praises of the £ range from Hey Little Magpie before but I do love the Dewdrops and Pearls! I’ve used these Bubblegum Pink Loose Pearls on the LO below and adhered them with dots of Glossy Accents.
Another LO and another grid design. I do love a grid, especially with quite busy papers, it really helps a LO come together quickly. I started with 2 of the fab papers from the Basic Grey Prism line. I used one side of the Medallion paper and both sides of the Quilt paper as strips above and below my main grid. My title is done using a Puffy Alphabet from Freckled Fawn, the turquoise is out of stock now but you can still get Black or Pink in the store. Then I embellished with one of the awesome Dimensional Cork Bows from Documentary below my title. I adhered a row of Bubblegum Pink Loose Pearls above and below and did a little cluster with a punched circle & tab and then added a photo turn from my stash and a Bright Puffy Arrow Sticker from MAMBI.
The Prism collection has some lush colours and the Printed Kraft Tags are no exception. There’s some great designs, I’ve used one on the LO below.
We all know I love the MAMBI Puffy Stickers and these Laugh, Bliss & Life ones are great. I love the words and the do make a great impact on a page. They also look fab when just used on a Project Life card and slipped in to a pocket. I used the ‘hello’ word on my LO below.
My last LO and again, I used Basic Grey Prism papers. I used Pyramid, Spoke and Beaded and layered them up in a type of grid. I added one of the Printed Kraft Tags on foam pads on the photo. My title is using older Amy Tangerine Phrase Thickers but the same words are now available in the new Amy Tangerine line, Finders Keepers and they’re white, you can get them here. I used a lot of photo turns from my stash and then made a little cluster of MAMBI Puffy Stickers on top of a circle I punched from cardstock. I used the Hello word from the Laugh, Bliss & Life pack that I talked about above and an arrow from the Chalk Arrows pack.
So that’s my offering for September. Can you believe it’s September already! Fingers crossed for a bit more summer in the UK yet, I’m not ready for Autumn now, I need a couple more weeks of sunshine please!
