A Day out in Chelsea – 49 & Market Vicki Boutin Curiosities in Willow Grove – Wendy Meffan

Chelsea in Bloom is always one of my favourite events of the year, and this visit with Kirei and Anna was no exception. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect — bright sunshine, blue skies, and the most stunning floral displays lining the streets. Everywhere we turned, there was colour, creativity, and that unmistakable Chelsea charm. It was such a joy to wander, chat, and take in all the beautiful designs together.

When it came to documenting the day, the 49 and Market Vicki Boutin Curiosities in Willow Lane collection felt like it was made for this occasion. The mix of floral ephemera, journaling pieces, and laser cuts captured the spirit of Chelsea in Bloom so beautifully. I especially loved how the vibrant tones and delicate details echoed the real-life displays we admired throughout the day.

The photo of the three of us is one of my favourites, so I made it the main focus of my layout. To highlight it, I created a large photo mat using layers from the journaling ephemera, giving it a soft, dimensional look that draws the eye right to the centre. I tucked in a couple of tags from the cut-apart sheet for added texture and interest, and fussy cut some gorgeous florals from the Starter #1 paper to bring in extra pops of colour and movement.

To finish the design, I edged the left side of the layout with the border strip from the same Starter #1 paper. It provided just the right amount of balance and structure, framing the page beautifully. This project truly reflects the magic of the day — full of laughter, friendship, and the beauty of blooms in every direction.
