A couple of clean & simple layouts using 5th & Monaco | Rachel Millington

Good morning Magpies it’s International Scrapbooking Day!!! I hope you are joining in the challenges on our Facebook, Chat & Inspiration Group? This is the first of my monthly blog posts, the next one will be up on the 16th. But this blog is special, it will be part of the 10am challenge on the FB group today!

I chose the Pink Paislee, 5th & Monaco collection to work with. I was drawn to the florals and the lovely pinks in this collection. What is weird is, I didn’t really use them that much lol! But that is what drew me to the collection in the first place. The lovely colours and florals. So I tried to actually use some of them on this LO here. I started with the pink Paper 2 and I really liked the strip on the bottom which shows the paper on the reverse, the black and white fern pattern. So I left that on the paper and trimmed the top of the paper off to make it 12×12. I added in a strip of washi from the Washi Tape Set above the black & white strip as well. Then I used a bit of the black & white floral, Paper 8 which I had hanging around. I love the stripe on the back of this paper but I don’t think I ever managed to use it which is just typical isn’t it! The base design of this LO is just a grid. The background paper and then a rectangle of a different pattern on top. Then the photo goes on, a title and some journalling.

My title is some super old Thickers (my favourites, I bought about a million packets of these ones cause I love them so much) and I also used the Flutter Vinyl Puffy Phrase Thickers from the Bloom Street Collection. I think the Bloom Street collection works really well with 5th & Monaco, the colours are very similar so if you’re looking for a few more bits and pieces to mix in with either collection, check the other one out for sure. The colours in the word ‘beautiful’ just worked so well I had to use it. Then I typed my journalling and cut that out. I’m right into doing strips of journalling lately. I don’t often journal on LO’s, usually because I’ve already scrapped the photo and done the journalling then. I don’t take a lot of photos, I don’t have kids and I just don’t have loads to take photos of. So I scrap the same ones over and over a lot! But when I do want to add journalling, I love to print it, cut it out and add it that way. Then I added a couple of stickers from the 6×12 Cardstock Sticker Sheet and a few gems from the Gem Sticker Pack. I have said before, I found that pack of gems so easy to use and was really surprised how much use I got from the pack. They’re well worth adding to your order if you are buying some 5th & Monaco goodies.

My second layout today is very similar to the first, a grid LO but I’ve gone wild and put the bottom layer on an angle – totally crazy right! I love Paper 10, both sides of the pape are lush, the black spot I used here and also the big floral on the other side. I started this LO with a paper from the new Vicki Boutin, Let’s Wander collection. I adore the Mixed Media pads that Vicki produces, I loved the one that came in the Color Kaleidoscope collection and it is still in stock – here and it’s great. As soon as I saw there was a 12×12 and a 6×8 pad in the new collection, I bought them both immediately! The big yellow/orange spots on this LO is a sheet from the 6×8 Mixed Media Paper Pad. It reminded me of the sun and the photo I had taken was super sunny with shadows so it seemed to fit so well to me. I wanted to use it alone but it really needed some pepping up so I added in a big square of Paper 10 in behind. I tried to mix things up a little bit and angled that. Then I added in some washi tape strips above and below using the Washi Tape Set and some Nuvo Drops too. I didn’t need much more on this LO. The title is some alpha stickers from my stash and the word ‘snapshot’ is from the Right Here Phrase Thickers pack. Then I added some butterflies from both the 6×12 Cardstock Sticker sheet and the Puffy Stickers as well.

I will be on the Facebook group at 10am with a challenge relating to this post – I’ll see you then Magpies and have a fabulous International Scrapbooking Day! Love & hugs xXx
