A bit more Saturday Afternoon by One Canoe Two.
Hey Magpies, Rachel here again with my second post using American Crafts, One Canoe Two – Saturday Afternoon! My first post earlier this month I shared three layouts using a white background and this time, I have three layouts with a black background! The collection works well with both and my friend Stacy challenged me to use one of the large patterned papers in the collection and I managed to do that too, which is right out of my comfort zone lol!
My first LO I tried to use one of the big patterns but I ended up resorting to using one of the 6×8 sheets from the 6×8 Paper Pad instead. I was a bit chicken but further down the page I did manage to use the 12×12 sheet!
I didn’t need much else on this page, the title is from the Smile Phrase & Icon Thickers and they are a lush rose gold finish. I added some Nuvo dots and then I needed something on the bottom right hand corner so I cut down one of the tags from a cut apart sheet in the 6×8 Paper Pad. I stamped the date with the Rotary Stamp and then I added some of the Rose Gold Rub-Ons under the patterned paper and oh my gosh, they rubbed on so well on black and look amazing!
My second layout couldn’t be simpler! I cut apart the Afternoon Clips paper and used the 3 tags from it. I love to lay out tags/banners and a photo across a page, it always works and is such an easy way to create a fast LO. I used some bits from the Wooden Stickers pack, these are wood veneer stickers and they’re very cool. I used the choose happy title and also the strawberry on the far right tag as well. The banner at the top is from the Layered Sticker pack and is all on foam pads so it’s very cool and dimensional. I added some Nuvos as well because well, it’s me and I do that!
As I said above, my friend Stacy challenged me to use one of the big patterns from the collection and I thought I was going to fail the challenge, but I got there in the end with this LO! This is really out of my comfort zone using such a big pattern, I am usually a white background girl. I do love the big floral patterned papers in this collection but I couldn’t figure out the right combination of photo + pattern that worked for me. But this photo on this background made me happy.
I used a lot of the embellishments on this LO. My title is from the Smile Phrase & Icon Thickers pack and then the ‘live a life you love’ panel under that came from the Afternoon Clips Paper which I mounted on black cardstock and get this, I dug out some old eyelets and set them on the sides before mounting on foam pads. Eyelets!
The rest of my embellishments are from the Layered Stickers pack, the Wooden Stickers pack, some bits of Die-Cut Ephemera and I found the Puffy Stickers from the previous One Canoe Two collection, Goldenrod and also some Puffy Stickers from Amy Tangerine’s Stay Sweet collection as well, those cute little hedgehogs!
I really enjoyed working with the One Canoe Two, Saturday Afternoon collection this month and I will definitely be trying something a bit different (for me) again soon! Stepping out of my usual scrappy lane worked for me, I challenge you guys to try it sometime too! See you next month Magpies xXx
