6×8 Project Life Album | Simple Stories – Good Stuff | Jackie Ashton
Hi Crafter, Jackie here with my first post for February 2022. This year I’m going to try and complete a Project Life (PL) monthly spread using Simple Stories – Good Stuff collection. This collection is ideal for this project, with each 12×12 page for each month.
In the past I did project life regularly for a few years, but then one year I got behind, and no matter how hard I tried I just couldn’t get back into completing it, and never started again.
However, this year I’m going to give it a good try, but instead of doing a 12×12 format like I did in the past, I opting to do a 6×8 album.
I choose this size for a few reasons:
- I’m hoping that it will help me keep on track and actually finish it this year.
- It will limit the amount of photographs and journaling I will have to do (but I think this point can be overlooked for January – lol ).
- Using the one collection will also limit me having to think what paper collection I want to use each month.
- By preparing all the foundation pages now, it will help with the process of getting the pages done quickly.
I had a 6×8 album in my stash and a pack of Simple Stories 6×8 Pocket Pages Multipack.
My initial idea is to used the following
6×8 – as the starter page for each month.
2 x 6×4 – adding photographs and journaling.
3×4 x2, 6×4 x 1 – photographs and journaling.
So my initial thoughts was to keep it this simple and just add a few photographs, in the spaces available. Well fast forward to printing my January photographs and that didn’t happen, I’ve ended up adding flips to include more photographs and one extra page protector. I’m happy with this, but each month I will try and stick to the 3 different size page protectors above and not add any extra page protectors.
Setting up the foundation pages
After cutting all the papers down to size and adding them to the album, I decided that I wanted each month page to be the same design and it was best for me to do them all at the same time.
Using the 6×8 pad, I added the corresponding paper as the base for the calendar, adhering to the paper and added punch labels from patterned papers, and stickers and labels from the Sticker Book, labels from the 12×12 Sticker sheet.
All the month covering pages are the same, I will add additional embellishments when I complete each month.
So here are my pages for January 2022
Title page – used Elles Studio Large Jane Heart Alphabet Stamp
James – Covid booster and my new iphone.
My big plans for January was that I had 3 theatre trips booked, which all happened within the same week – so this meant I would have extra photographs to scrap.
Using 2 x 3×4, 1 x 6×4 format – I added some journaling 3×4 cut apart sheet, and I had extra photographs from that night, which I had printed them off and added to a vellum envelope. Adding a simple decoration on top. At this stage I’m not sure whether I will add additional page protectors to include these photographs or just leave the in the vellum envelope.
Then I added a flip insert to add some of my photographs. To include more photographs I collated several photographs on to two sheets and printed out.
And found the perfect tag in the die-cut pack.
Reverse – had to include a Starbucks and a collated 4 photographs of my 2nd visit to the Theatre.
My extra page protector I added another flip insert, as I wanted to include our meal and the funny story of not fully knowing what we were ordering at a new restaurant we went to, getting a partial cooked fried egg – instead of egg fried rice – lol. We soon changed that to plain steam rice.
On the reverse I added a 3×4 flip – using washi tape from this collection at the top so that the 3×4 flipped up. My word for 2022 is ‘SELF’ – and how I intend to start to do more things for my’SELF’, hopefully every month I can document something that is helping my stay true to this word.
For now I have kept my decorations for my January pages to a minimum. I will be adding additional embellishments from other collections to ensure that the embellishments last.
Each month I will be adding my pages to my IG – Jackiescraps, so please follow me.
Have you decided to set up a PL album? Have you struggled with the 12×12 format previously? If so, who not give a smaller size a try using this collection.
