Fancy That!

Hi everyone!
It’s Nat here, scheduled a little later in the month this time round for a very special reason. The projects I’m sharing today made up part of my wedding gift to my brother and my lovely new sister-in-law for their big day on the 17th of July (the day after I usually post here on the blog).
So now I can go ahead and share what it is I made for them using the oh so perfect wedding collection of 2015: Fancy That by My Mind’s Eye!
The collection has definitely been a huge hit in the store as it has been flying out. I’ll share links to what’s still available from what I used, but brace yourselves, this post is picture heavy!

So all of those items, plus a few extra bits and pieces that are sadly no longer in the store went into the making of these:

No matter how hard I tried, the photos just do not do justice to to all the beautiful gold foiling in these papers and embellishments.
But yes, the main gift was a surprise mini-album of photos from the happy couple’s pre-wedding shoot.
The bare bones of the album were the 6×8 Heidi Swapp Favorite Things album and the photos pockets that came with it – the album was recently in the sale and flew out as well! But there is a great alternative in the form of this gold album!
The Heidi Swapp album had a nice black and white striped spine that contrasted nicely against the gold and blush tones.
And boy did that gold shine in the Bridesmaid pattern I used for the front.
I added a label and gold frame with some words that I knew were going to be appearing on the big day as part of the wedding favours – always good to have insider knowledge!
Another great match for this collection was the Stone grey cardstock by American Crafts which I used as the base for any mounted photos in the album.
So now on with the photos of the album:

It all started with a very important question…
I used a lot of the brads and ephemera from this collection in the album to just add details here and there.
They really do bring the pages together.
And the configuration of the pocket pages gave lots of scope for using different sized photos.
I used up a fair few of the stickers in the gold alpha sticker set, it comes with 6 sheets of stickers including the two on this page.
Oh and the enamel dots from the Fancy That line were a great little accent to those stickers as an alternative to the brads.

The great thing about this collection is that it is also groom-friendly and not just pinks and golds. There are grey tones plus some nice contrasting gold and black patterns like the one I used from the 6×6 pad here. The ephemera pack also had some handy items in it, like the him and her labels.

Here’s the other configuration of pockets – two 6×4 pockets – ideal for including some of the gorgeous journaling cards in this collection, most of which are gold foiled!
I used dies to cut a couple of ribbon tails for the brad I used on this page:
It’s also a nice configuration for putting just photos together:
But I have to admit I really did love those 6×8 pockets – plenty of space to work with:
The left-over scraps from the 6×6 papers I used were great for adding little details to layer the brads:
Here’s another brad combo with one of the hearts in the ephemera pack:
They were very handy for attaching the ephemera without adhesive.
I also found a way to incorporate some of the chipboard accents in the album – like to the two love birds. 🙂
How sweet are they? And the enamel shapes pack also features some grey and black glitter enamel dots which are just lovely:
They go really nicely with the gold foiled word stickers:
The ephemera and chipboard elements were very nice filler elements for the 3×4 pockets:
Adding a few stickers here and there brought them to life a bit more:
The journaling card pack contains both portrait and landscape cards:
I added 3D foam to some of them to make them stand out more against the background paper:
And the larger pockets made it possible to include some flair:
So this pattern of pages continued on…

I even used the vellum accents from the ephemera pack and adhered them with a dab of glue bellow where the enamel dots were placed:
And then last but not least, the final page:

Naturally I also made a card for the big day!
I really went to town with the flair, ephemera, stickers, and chipboard accents.
I also decorated the inside with a journaling card and the bride and groom brads:
And I added the date of the wedding to the back:
Finally I wrapped up the album ready for the big day:
And decorated the gift bag with another journaling card as a tag:
And that’s it for this month! The happy couple really liked their gift and the day was absolutely amazing. I’m just looking forward to seeing the wedding photos now!
